Hello, I am going to speak to
you about my city, Nîmes.
Nîmes
is in southeast of France. It has a population of 150,000 people and was
created in Antiquity. It is a very beautiful town with its lots of roman
monuments, parcs and its downtown. If you come here, you just can fall in love
of this city.
Lots
of monuments are in a very good state like Les Arènes (the Coliseum), la Porte
Auguste (the August Gate), la Tour Magne (the Magne Tower) or la Maison Carrée
. At the top of la Tour Magne, you can see many beautiful landscapes, Nîmes
being surrounded by mountains of the Cevennes.
Nîmes
is a perfect place to live during the summer.
There are lots of nice beach beside a river called « Le
Gardon » where you can see a very famous monument, « le Pont du
Gard ». The warmth of summer temperatures (between 30 ° and 40 °) are one
of the hottest cities of France, but the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea (50 km)
makes it quite bearable, attracting a steady stream of French and foreign
holidaymakers.
NNNîmes is also a city with a strong Hispanic
influence. For the weekend of Pentecost, the city celebrate “La Corrida”
(Bullfighting), 1,500,000 people gathering around “Les Arènes” for eat paëla,
drink pastis and dance to the sound of brass bands and bodegas.
Nîmes is just a little french town, full of
surprises where you are happy to travel or simply for have a good time of
serenity with the sing of cicadas of the south of France.
